The Australian sharemarket is expected to open more than one per cent lower, after US and European stocks fell heavily over ongoing anxiety in the Eurozone.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slid more than 300 points on Friday as global stock markets were plagued by worries about Greece's bailout.
European stock markets slumped on Friday after the shock resignation of the European Central Bank's chief economist, Juergen Stark, with London's FTSE 100 index of leading companies falling 2.35 per cent to 5214.65 points.
